intimate landscape

Project is dealing with the concept of landscape, especially focusing on exploring and searching for intimate dimension within its vastness, openness, limitlessness. Using various sizes and materials I analyze visual and conceptual possibilities of drawing and painting techniques which enable to depict an intimacy and fragility. I try to gain these through the symbol of a greenhouse. The greenhouse is an embodiment of protection, isolation, shell or shelter in a context of insecurity and distance the man created between him and nature. The sense of vulnerability, feeling of being exposed, unprotected.
However, the greenhouse stands as a trace of his presence – evidence of a man´s need to leave an imprint in a wide, natural landscape, his ongoing effort to usurp.

To look at greenhouse means an opportunity to look inside (insight) – to see landscape inside of a landscape, and at the same time to see through its walls towards outside. Glass as a dividing boundery is transparent, both excluding and including. Greenhouse can be understood as an element of protection evoking the notion of remoteness because of strictness of its architectural construction, while fragility and transparency suggest a certain subtlety. This ambivalence is precarious.
