How to build a nest is project of three friends: Kathrin DE),Martina(SVK) and Elisabeth (SWE). This exhibition was built in time, transformed, modified…continuously answering and again questioning, exploring on what the nest (related to human perspective, presence, dwelling, relation), means.
The nest - Recovery and Protection. Order in the face of chaos. Security, continuity, collection.
The nest - human instinct. Creates protection, offers protection. Housing.
The nest - skin. Recovery and covering. A primal feeling of life, a maternal security. Feelings, human qualities.
“Would the bird build its nest, […] if it did not have an instinctive trust in the world?”
The Nest - Outside and Inside. A shell. A second skin. A place of memory and experience.
The nest - return and possibility of return. Into the absolute security. On the other hand fragile, temporary, and vulnerable.
“The nest - we understand it immediately - is extremely easy to destroy, and yet it triggers in us a ´dreamy´ of ´security´ “(Bachelard)
Empty dwellings show former residents. Their absence can be felt through the presence of emptiness. Traces are left on the inner and outer skin. Only the skin of the walls remains.
The nest - Space to create relationships and to ask questions. To relate, to talk, to be together, to be friends.
